Hot weather beaters!
- To encourage your cat or dog to drink more water during the hot weather try putting a few ice cubes in their water bowl. They’ll probably pla
y with them and end up drinking more water in the process! It’s also quite amusing to watch!!
- Stop your cat over-heating by putting its feet in cool water. If your cat just won’t let you, try wetting a towel with cold water, putting it on your knee then stand the cat on the towel. You could even rub the towel under its chin to cool it off too!
- You've had a surprise visit and want to impress and you need to chill a bottle of white wine or champagne really quick. Put some water and ice into an ice bucket, add five or six tablespoons of salt into the bucket and your wine should only take about 20 minutes to cool!
Linda in Rotherham is convinced her method for cutting onions is better than our effort (below!). Not ones for being defensive we open the floor for the onion debate! Here's another one to test drive ...
- Put your onions in the fridge and don’t even try to cut into them unless they have been in there overnight. The next day when you’re preparing dinner for your girlfriend you won’t be distracted by stinging eyes and tears, and instead you can give her all the attention she deserves!
- After you’ve been to a lovely restaurant with your honey and have inadvertently ordered a meal with garlic in it don’t panic – reach for some parsley give it a good chew and she’ll never know the difference (check your teeth before you smile alluringly at her though!)
- We all know how important our hands are as lesbians, so if you're a smoker keep them spic and span by rubbing your hands with toothpaste or lemon juice it helps banish nicotine stains and also makes them smell nicer! Also, never wash your hands in hot water it strips the natural oils out of them - don't forget your marigolds when you're doing the washing up too!
Just to prove we can be sensible ...
Before you leave the country for balmier climes don't forget to leave photocopies of passports and important documents with friends or relatives back home. If you lose them or they are stolen then photocopies can be faxed over to your hotel or holiday agent.
- If you buy a bottle of water in a restaurant it may not be filled with the real stuff, so remember to check if the seal is intact. You could try turning it upside down - if it leaks don’t buy it.
- Did you know that if you eat garlic like it’s going out of fashion, it will keep the mossies and other creatures away – although it might do the same for your girlfriend too!
Did you know …
That if you put a ceramic tile in your fridge for a few hours then put it in your rabbit hutch it will cool your rabbit down in the summer! (We’re talking about your live pet rabbit here, not your battery operated one that has no place in a rabbit hutch at all!)
- If cranberries bounce they’re fresh if they don’t, don’t buy them! (We will take absolutely NO responsibility whatsoever if you are arrested trying this one in the aisle of your local supermarket!)
- If you’ve got kids, put a few drops of washing up liquid into their paint pots before they start painting. It helps remove the paint from their clothes when you wash them!
And finally ...
By putting orange peel into smelly shoes overnight they will be fresher by the next morning!
- If you burn a candle near to you when you’re cutting onions it stops you from crying - but yes, you look an idiot cutting onions by candlelight!
- Drinking cocktails with real fruit juice should reduce your hangover the next day because the juice replaces vitamins you lose by drinking alcohol and it is said that fructose helps to absorb the alcohol! Again, we take absolutely no responsibility for this one if you try it out!
