Gardens > Gazebos - Outdoor Entertaining

If you’re anything like us as soon as the clock sprang forward you were there, chomping at the bit, optimistically rescuing the outdoor table and chairs from the black hole that is the shed; proudly polishing the barbie, cheerfully un-choking the chimnea. After months of being cooped up in the home or office – it’s dark when you leave in the morning, it’s dark when you come home at night – the longer days effortlessly lull you into a false sense of summer security. All it takes is one warm day and you’re filled with hope for an uninterrupted summer of sizzling sapphism.

Why do we do that do you think? Why do we manage to get sucked into this fantasy world of long, hot, balmy days populated by long-legged, hot, preferably-not-balmy women? When was the last time you had an uninterrupted summer of sizzling sexy sapphism? Let’s face it living in the UK does tend to dampen the old sizzling spirits somewhat.

How many times have you invited your pals around for a great british barbie only for you all to have ran for cover as soon as you realised it wasn’t the sapphism or the steaks that were starting to sizzle, but the rain landing on the barbie coals?

This year though, not willing to just sit back and hope, we have decided to TAKE IT ON! This year, we are going to be outside when we want to be outside. We are going to take everything the UK weather has to throw at us, and we are going to overcome. We say this confidently because we are now the proud owners of a gazebo (or for the not-so-posh amongst us – a tent without sides!).

Yes, after realising that the shed will not lend itself well to summerhouse status, we have splashed out on a great green gazebo! No longer will we have to traipse our friends into the house while we leave the underGazebo-duress cook out in the cold trying to balance plates, condiments, cutlery and the like in one hand whilst holding a golfing brolly precariously over herself and the barbie with the other. No, this year we are going to be able to continue to camp it up outside; it’ll just be under the canopy. And if the weather does manage to get seriously hot; well we’ve got some shade in which to Sapphic-ly sizzle!

Things to think about when buying a gazebo:

  • Check that it’ll fit in your garden space! They’re bigger than you think!
  • If you want it just for rain protection is it quick and easy to put up? Check that you don’t need a team to erect it!
  • Is it just as fast and easy to come down again?
  • If storage space is a problem does it pack up small?
  • You can get them with sides in them (it doesn’t make it a tent! The sides are removable!) Do you need one with sides? Obviously, they’re cheaper without.
  • Be careful near them with naked flames – they are usually flammable.
  • Position them just right so that your next door neighbours can’t see inside – you’ve now got a perfect sexy, Sapphic, snug in which to enjoy each other in the great outdoors!
